Our immediate need and associated project is to finish building-out the second floor of the George B. Crane Memorial Center, in order to provide additional meeting rooms and rental office space. Use of 3,500 sq. ft. of second floor space is crucial for the growth of programs, and to have rental space to meet operational expenses.
With grants from Berkshire Bank Foundation, and seed money from the City of Pittsfield’s Community Development Department, a donation of materials from Veteran’s Construction and, donations from Greylock Federal Credit Union, regional businesses, individuals, and men from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department Work Release Program who helped to build the elevator shaft, we were able to have installed a handicap only accessible elevator and complete much of the second floor build-out.
At this time we still fall short of approximately $30,000 needed for completion of the Center to cover licensed labor and materials cost for plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
We have one major room to finish a large activity room that needs taping, painting and finish flooring.
We also need to build two new bathrooms and a secondary egress, already in process, finish flooring and final painting will complete the second floor.
Donations for the build-out or operational costs are always appreciated. Donations are totally tax deductible and may be made directly to the George B. Crane Memorial Center, 81 Linden Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201, or online through Pay Pal.
